Who & What
Do you want to be a Hero for the Homeless? Joshua’s House Hospice, the first such facility to care for terminally ill homeless men and women on the West Coast, is seeking a small group of new members for its Board of Directors. We are seeking individuals who are committed to reducing the number of terminally ill homeless folks dying on our streets and along our rivers, have healthcare and/or hospice experience, and are capable of helping to raise money and increase community awareness about the need for hospice care for this population.
Currently Joshua’s House Hospice is working with a local community health leader to have 5-8 beds in a community health center open for our community in early 2021. This will create a model of Joshua’s House Hospice along with the possibility of using adjacent property to create a Joshua’s House Hospice village with 10-20 beds providing shelter, hospice/comfort care, clothing, meals, and other services. There is also the possibility of having 8-10 Joshua’s House Hospice beds in a community center in Davis. Our Board has been instrumental in helping us to get to this point, but we are in need of some new members to join us as we navigate to opening, and beyond.
The Board meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 2 pm (currently using a Zoom video/phone system) for about an hour. Current skillsets needed include (but are not limited to) Donor and Fundraising/Sponsorship Liaison, and Volunteer Coordination. We welcome applications from all skillset backgrounds.
